‘Legion’

God is pissed off and ready to destroy mankind, until Michael (Paul Bettany) — a fallen angel — shows him that humans can be good again in the apocalyptic action flick “Legion.” Charlie (Adrianne Palicki) is a pregnant waitress working at Bob Hanson’s (Dennis Quaid) diner. After an old lady bites one man and climbs the wall, the patrons realize something isn’t right. Michael arrives to let Charlie know that her baby is the only hope for mankind’s survival, and a group of people (including Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson and Charles S. Dutton) must band together to fight off hordes of “weak minded” people possessed by angels. “Legion” starts off strong but quickly loses steam and offers an ending ripped straight from “The Terminator.” I felt let down after discovering this film wasn’t anything like its creepy, action-packed trailer portrayed. ‘Breaking Away’

Four friends — Mike (Dennis Quaid), Dave (Dennis Christopher), Cyril (Daniel Stern) and Moocher (Jackie Earle Haley, the new Freddy Krueger) — struggle with life after high school, while being called “Cutters” by the Indiana University students who share their town in “Breaking Away.” Dave wants to be on the Italian cycling team, but his father (Paul Dooley) wants him to work at his used car lot. Mike was a high school athlete, but his uncompetitive life has left him bitter. After Dave experiences a lost love and is defeated and humiliated at the hands of an Italian cycling team, the four create the “Cutters” team and enter the “Little 500” college bike race. Hollywood doesn’t make films like it used to, and “Breaking Away” is a perfect example of how a simple coming-of-age-story, with the right tone and performers, can create an enthralling and inspiring sports film.
