May 3-4


May 3, 1:15 to 2 p.m.
Burglary in the 1200 block of Carrie Avenue. The victim returned from the local grocery store at approximately 2 p.m. and discovered that someone had entered her home. It appeared the suspect(s) tried to open the side door to gain entry. The victim stated she was missing three digital cameras, an iPod and a GPS system, valued at more than $500. Officers were unable to locate the suspect(s).


May 3, 7:30 p.m.
Burglary in the 3200 block of Indianola Road. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who reported an unknown man walked into his house while he was using the restroom and confronted him. The victim stated the suspect said, “this is for Amerill,” but the victim does not know anybody by that name. The suspect then attempted to cut the victim multiple times with a knife and take his belongings. The victim defended himself and chased the suspect out of the apartment. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.


May 4, 4:05 a.m.
Assault and stabbing in the 1300 block of East Euclid Avenue. The two victims were in the McDonald’s drive-through when three suspects pulled up behind them and started screaming, “Get the hell out of the way!” One of the victims exited his vehicle and yelled, “Chill the fuck out.” The three suspects exited their vehicle and punched one of the victims. One suspect had a small pocketknife and stabbed at the victim’s foot. The knife penetrated the victim’s shoe and made a small puncture wound. The victim kicked to protect himself, and then the three suspects got back in their car and drove off. The incident was caught on tape, but officers were unable to locate the suspects. CV



Name: Martin Thicklen
The story: Dispatch had advised law enforcement that the suspect, later identified as Martin Thicklen, had damaged the victim’s driver’s side window and caused bodily injury. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who had a bloody lip, broken tooth and swollen jaw. The victim stated Thicklen threw a padlock at the window, which then struck the victim in the face. Thicklen was later located in the lobby of the YMCA. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Polk County Jail. Thicklen was charged with assault with a weapon and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
