‘Tooth Fairy’
Directed by Michael Lembeck
Rated PG, 101 minutes
Before I rip this movie, I want to address the film’s target audience. If you and your kids enjoyed tough guy Vin Diesel in “The Pacifier,” you’ll love tough guy Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in “Tooth Fairy.” Otherwise, stay away from this junk. Johnson stinks up the screen as Derek “The Tooth Fairy” Thompson, a badass hockey player known for hitting his opponents so hard their teeth end up on the ice. The film started off promising, but then it goes downhill. Thompson takes $1 from under his girlfriend’s daughter’s pillow and is forced to become a tooth fairy. “The Rock” grows wings and wears a tutu, all while trying to make the little girl believe again. Avoid the “Tooth Fairy” at all cost. I would rather have all of my teeth pulled out then sit through this cavity again. CV
‘The Rundown’
Directed by Peter Berg
2003, Rated PG-13, 104 minutes
When you want a film that is full of action, suspense and comedy, look no further than “The Rundown.” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stars as Beck, a beast of a man who works as a return specialist. If you need something returned to you, Beck is the man you call. After opening a can of whoop-ass on a football team, Beck is sent into the Amazon jungles to find his employer’s son, Travis (Seann William Scott), and bring him back for retribution. But Beck finds himself in a mining town run by Hatcher (a scene-stealing Christopher Walken), who is also looking for Travis. Add in sexy Rosario Dawson and “The Rundown” is easily one of the best action films of the 2000s. It’s an underrated gem that should be seen by anyone who enjoyed the days of Schwarzenegger and Stallone.CV
