The Broadlawns Baby Fair will take place Saturday, April 24 at the Broadlawns Medical Center, 1801 Hickman Road. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include advice for caring for new babies, health and safety tips, access to local community resources, door prizes, live entertainment and vendors for baby and toddler needs. LHF needs your help
Living History Farms is in need of historical interpreters to educate and engage visitors. A 16-month commitment is required for the position, and benefits include a pass for unlimited visits during the season, access to the in-house library, volunteer e-mail newsletters and a year-end volunteer recognition event. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Southeast Polk will be held May 1 at the Southeast Polk High School Stadium. The event runs from 3 to 10 p.m. and will bring together friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools and many more to celebrate the lives of those with cancer and to remember those who have lost their battle with the disease. The evening will include a Luminaria Ceremony after sundown, and there will also be a “Fight Back” Ceremony, in which a community leader will inspire Relay participants to take a personal pledge to help fight the disease.
