It’s Templeton time
Templeton Rye Spirits is a company with a product that is quickly becoming synonymous with Iowa. From the massive billboard advertisements in the Des Moines International Airport to the tour bus traveling across the state, Templeton Rye is getting noticed. Recent changes in Iowa law will open the doors even more for the company and the region, which will both benefit from the resulting tourism.
Freelance reporter Douglas Burns says the similarities between Templeton, Iowa, and Lynchburg, Tenn., (home of the Jack Daniels Distillery) are becoming more obvious, especially now that Templeton Rye will be able to sell up to two bottles a day to visitors on site starting July 1. Burns reports how company president Scott Bush feels the change will help turn Templeton into a Lynchburg, where the whole town is involved in creating a tourism boon. At this point, 75 percent of the product is still sold in Iowa, but the company hopes to become a national brand soon. And at the rate they are going, we won’t be surprised.
