March 29, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Burglary in the 3400 block of Southeast 1st Court. The victim said that someone between the listed times forcefully entered his house and stole a computer tower, computer monitor and a 30-inch flatscreen television valued at more than $800. A lockbox with bank statements and $66,000 worth of bonds was also missing. The victim found pry marks on the sliding glass door, and he was unsure of if he had locked the house. There are no suspect(s) at this time.
March 29, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Burglary in the 3100 block of East Douglas Avenue. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated she returned home to discover that someone had gone ransacked her house. The victim said that she usually leaves the backdoor unlocked, but upon returning home, she found her backdoor locked and the front door unlocked. The victim said she was missing various medications, four diamond rings, money and personal checks. Officers were unable to locate the suspect(s).
March 29, 11:37 p.m.
Assault with a weapon in the 5400 block of Aurora Avenue. The reporting person stated that two male suspects allegedly were armed with a rifle at their front door. The reporting person said that someone knocked at the front door and when the victim answered the door, one of the suspects made statements to the pair while the other suspect pointed the rifle at them. The victim quickly shut the door, wedging the barrel between the doorframes. The suspects were eventually able to pull the gun out from the door and disappeared in an unknown direction. Name: Valerie Etecisha Manuel
The story: Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated she and her girlfriend were involved in a verbal argument that had turned physical. According to the victim, she and the suspect, later identified as Manuel, were breaking up after an on-again-off-again relationship when Manuel grabbed a baton and struck the victim in the head. The victim suffered a large gash across her forehead. Officers found the baton in the living room and Manuel hiding under blankets in the basement. Manuel was arrested and charged with domestic abuse with a dangerous weapon.
