Drake University’s Students in Free Enterprise host “The Water and World Benefit Concert” featuring a performance by indie-rock singers Tyrone Wells and Tony Lucca on Thursday, March 25 at 7 p.m. at the Olmsted Center. Tickets are $10 for the public, $1 for Drake students or $60 for VIP seats, and may be purchased through IowaTix.
The “Live at the Temple” concert series kicks off Thursday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. with performances by Texas country music singers Bruce Robison and Mark Stuart at the Temple for Performing Arts. Tickets are $26.50 through Ticketmaster. … Stuart will also perform Friday, March 26 at 8 p.m. at Jasper Winery with Randy Burk and other local musicians for a concert/wine-tasting event. Admission is $10.
The Ark, a new recording studio located in the same building that houses Reimans Music in Ames, 327 Main St., will host a grand opening party on Friday, March 26 from 5 to 10 p.m. with a performance by Bombardier from 7 to 9 p.m. The Ark is owned by Dennis Haislip, the studio’s primary engineer, said Andy Anderson of the local pop-rock band SNAFU, who works as a producer there. “The studio itself was built by us and a lot of friends, but contains probably the largest actual studio room in the metro, complete with a large array of amps, guitars and a baby grand white Wurlitzer piano,” he said. “The mixing room is the size of most studio’s altogether.” The studio also boasts sound and isolation booths as well as a lounge for musicians.
Local Hip-Hop promoter/entrepreneur Bryan Weber Jr. is celebrating the completion of his music company’s five-year-goals in four years by hosting a concert featuring performances by Guerilla Hustle Records, Kyser, Rexxx, Dmise and MarKus on Friday, March 26 at 9 p.m. at the House of Bricks. Admission is $5.
Local rock band Index Case is hosting a series of concerts in which it will perform live each album in its entirety, leading up the release of its new release, “Augustagein,” in June at People’s Court. On Saturday, March 27, the band performs the songs from its 2003 “The Weak and The Wounded” album at 5 p.m. to fans of all ages at the House of Bricks. Mindrite and Silence is Broken open the show. Tickets are $8 in advance through IowaTix. On May 1, the band will perform its entire 2005 self-titled album at the House of Bricks.
Alice Cooper along with Halestorm, Drowning Pool, Red and Hail the Villain has been added to the bill for Lazerfest on May 16 in Indianola.
The Goo Goo Dolls will perform at the 7 Flags Event Center on May 18. Tickets are $35 and go on sale Saturday, March 27.
Wells Fargo Arena announced two shows: 16-year-old pop singer Justin Bieber (June 30, tickets go on sale March 27); and “Star Wars in Concert,” (July 5, $25-$65) featuring a live symphony orchestra and hi-def screens. Tickets are available through Dahl’s Tickets.
Willie Nelson’s upcoming concert at 7 Flags Event Center on Sunday, March 28 has been rescheduled for Oct. 10. Tickets purchased for the event will be honored for the October show. CV
