Health care questions unanswered
Charles Grassley has stated many times he doesn’t want government-run health care. Steve King constantly uses the words “socialized medicine” to argue against health care reform. Seems strange then, that they both voted for 2003’s Medicare Part D, otherwise known as the Prescription Drug Bill for seniors. We were looking at record deficits at the time and it was, by far, the biggest welfare giveaway since the 1960s.

What I can’t figure out is why they think seniors should qualify for government-run, socialized medicine but a laid off Electrolux worker, or any other citizen, should not. It is unclear if they are now going to work at abolishing Medicare completely or if they are just flip-flopping because a Democrat is in the White House.

New casinos will crush main street economies
Iowa casinos do not create high paying jobs and will not replace the good paying manufacturing jobs lost in the state over the last several years. In addition, casinos drain many rural towns with the need for additional government services ranging from law enforcement to water sewage treatment and road maintenance.

New casinos create their own economies, luring their clientele with the prospects of big jackpots while providing all the comforts they need on site. Main street restaurants and bars are undercut by low cost buffets and the offer of free drinks on casino gaming floors. New casinos in Iowa will crush the local main street economies.

Wake up America
The Republican Party of no — no brains, no guts and no legislation — should be removed from the American political scene post haste. And while we are at it, let’s eliminate those greedy Democrats, too. As much as our government no longer works for the American people, just throw out all the lying, cheating, greedy idiots and start over.
