Viewers decide most accurate
Thanks a bunch to Cityview for their article on so-called Weather Wars (“TV Weather Wars,” March 4). But let’s call it what it really is, dueling narcissism. I used to enjoy turbulent weather, not any more. Three raindrops fall, and they take over T.V. programming like it’s the onset of Armageddon.

I’m old enough to remember when a tornado was 30 feet from your front window, you got a “hit the deck” announcement. The rest of the time, there was a little blurb on the edge of the screen updating you. Now these guys carry on for hours with their color charts telling you that this airflow went this way and that airflow went the other way.

If you call the station and tell them that you know all you need to know and could you please see what’s left of your favorite program, they are outraged and advise you that they are “saving lives.” Get over yourselves.

Weather Wars cause more harm
“Weatherate” has called on KCCI in the past (“TV Weather Wars,” March 4) as well and offered us the privilege of buying the right to say they’ve found us to be the “most accurate,” based on whatever mysterious methods they use.

I assume they have called on WHO in the past as well. They finally got WOI to bite, and by amazing coincidence, ever since WOI has agreed to pay them (three years in a row now), Weatherate keeps finding them to be the “most accurate.” My guess is that as long as WOI continues to pay them, Weatherate will continue to keep their winning streak alive. The true judge of who is the “most accurate” is the viewer. KCCI weather is trusted by more viewers than WHO and WOI combined. As Brad Edwards himself says, “the numbers don’t lie.”
