Dance to fight diabetes
The Hy-Vee Sock Hop will take place on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Hy-Vee Conference Center, 5820 Westown Parkway. The event, which runs from 7 p.m. to midnight, will include vintage cars, diner food and the sounds from the 1950s and 1960s. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Tickets are $25 and available in advance at any Des Moines-area Hy-Vee store or at the door. Call 559-5730.

Celebrate the Chinese New Year

Party Mardi Gras-style
Mardi Gras 2010, a triple benefit gala for the restoration of Terrace Hill, Salisbury House and Hoyt Sherman Place, will be held Feb. 20.
