The Des Moines City Council recently approved $2,200 for Tom Turner, human resources director, to attend the 2010 Annual Conference of National Public Employer Labor Relations Association in New Orleans, La., from April 24 to 28. The conference is designed to provide an in-depth look at collective bargaining, labor relations and human resources. The council also approved $1,650 for Sgt. Mark Wessels to attend Patrol Rifle Instructor School from April 25 to 30 in Charlotte, Mich.
