Jan. 17-19
Jan. 17, 4:11 p.m.
Attempted robbery in the 1300 block of 6th Avenue. The victim stated he was walking home when three suspects jumped him from behind. The suspects tried to take his wallet as they punched and kicked him on the ground. The victim fought back, and the suspects ran away. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.
Jan. 18, 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Burglary in the 100 block of East Bell Avenue. Officers met with the first victim who stated she was not home and that her son, victim two, left the residence at approximately 11:30 a.m. and returned home at 1830 6:30 p.m. Before he left, the second victim made sure all the doors were locked before he left, and when he came home, the inside door and the patio doors leading outside were propped open. Both victims stated several items, including watches, diamond solitaires and wedding and anniversary bands, were missing. There are no suspect(s) at this time.
Jan. 19, midnight
Intimidation with a weapon in the 1700 block of Lincoln Avenue. Officers arrived on the scene on a report of shots fired. Officers made contact with the victim who stated she heard a loud pounding noise at the front of her residence. She looked into the kitchen and noticed there were several bullet holes in the wall. Officers observed the holes on the north and west side of the home, along with bullet holes in the front passenger side of the vehicle parked in the driveway. There were also bullet holes in the snow in front of the residence. Officers were unable to locate the suspect(s). CV
Busted
Name: Tamara Grant
The story:Officers responded to a call regarding an intoxicated, belligerent female, later identified as Grant, who had not been allowed to board a plane at the Des Moines International Airport. Officers located Grant, who appeared to be passed out, on the curb under the skywalk. Officers woke Grant and began asking her questions and discovered that she had slurred speech and could not follow simple directions. Grant then got up and said, “Fuck you, I’m leaving” and stumbled to a cab. Officers informed her to stop, but Grant continued to cuss at officers. While officers were handcuffing her, Grant tensed up and kicked one officer in the leg. Officers were finally able to subdue Grant, and she was transported to the Polk County Jail. Grant was charged with public intoxication, assault on a police officer, interference with official acts, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
