Jan. 10, unknown time
Burglary in the 200 block of University Avenue. The victim, who takes care of her brother’s residency, returned to his house and found it ransacked, and an unknown amount of property was taken. The victim stated she noticed a set of fresh footprints leading up to the unplowed driveway. There were also shoe impressions from the front door to the rear sliding door at the basement level of the residence. It was apparent every room had been searched, including a small combination safe that held gold coins and jewelry taken. There are no suspect(s) at this time.
Jan. 11, 7:45 to 10:20 a.m.
Burglary in the 2300 block of Des Moines Street. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated someone broke into her house and stole a Playstation 3 console, Playstation 2 console, 30 games, a laptop computer and loose change, valued at more than $3,100. The victim believes the suspect(s) might have made entry through the south basement window because of a broken window. The victim also believes her nephew may have something to do with it. Officers were unable to locate the suspect(s).
Jan. 11, 7:13 p.m.
Possible abduction in the 5300 block of Southeast 28th St. Officers were dispatched on a call alleging a male was dragging a female into the garage. Upon arrival, officers found the residence unoccupied or no one would answer. The reporting person came to the residence and stated his wife and daughter were in the house and being held against their will under a blue tarp. The homeowner arrived at the residence and consented to let officials search the area, which turned up nothing. Officials talked with the reporting person who believed his wife and daughter were abducted to be in a prostitution ring. Soon the reporting person became agitated and wanted to drop the entire thing. He stated if she wanted to be that way, then that was fine with him. CV

Name: Christopher John Collett
The story:Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Southeast 19th Street on a burglary in progress. Dispatch officers stated the female victim called in and stated an unknown male, later identified as Collett, had entered her residence and was currently upstairs. Upon arrival, officers found Collett lying on the upstairs bathroom floor and appeared to be intoxicated. When asked where he thought he was, Collett said, “On the East Side.” The victim said she had fallen asleep on the couch in the living room when someone awakened her. The victim said Collett first walked into the living room, at which point she asked, “Who are you?” Collett allegedly laughed and proceeded upstairs. Collett was arrested for second-degree burglary and transported to the Polk County Jail. He is being held on $10,000 bond.
