Well fans, we’re only a few weeks away from the big game. But before we get there, we have a little thing known as the League Championship games to get through. Normally these games have more excitement and a better finish than the Super Bowl, and this weekend’s match-ups look to continue the trend. Let’s take a look at this week’s games.
Minnesota Vikings vs. New Orleans Saints — GameDay thought the Saints were done after losing their final three games and having to think about those defeats for an extra week with a bye. And when Arizona Cardinals running back Tim Hightower broke the first play from scrimmage for a big TD run, things we’re not looking good. But, that was about the only glimmer of offense the Cardinals showed, and Drew Brees and company picked apart the red birds for the rest of the game. Minnesota has a better defense than Arizona, but can Brett Favre and company keep up with the Saints’ offense? GameDay thinks no, and we’re sure once they find their rhythm, Brees and company will put an end to the Vikings Superbowl hopes and Favre’s career.
New York Jets vs. Indianapolis Colts — GameDay jumped on the Jets’ bandwagon long ago and continues to be amazed at how this team has come together as a force to be reckoned with. Sure there is an Iowa tie — Shonn Greene is staking his claim as the Jets’ RB of the future — but that’s not the only reason we are sticking with the Jets. Defense wins football games, and right now, there is not a better unit playing. Sure, Peyton Manning is as good as they get, but how can he connect with his receivers when the most feared CB in the game, Darrelle Revis, is on the prowl? GameDay thinks Manning won’t get comfortable, and the Jets will ride their defense to the promised land.
