Sing it from the rooftops
Auditions for The Iowa Youth Chorus will take place Thursday, Jan. 14 and Jan. 21 from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. at The Temple of Performing Arts. Participants, ages 8 to 18, are to come prepared to sing a short, unaccompanied piece of their choosing. Volunteer on MLK Day
In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 18, a number of service projects will take place across central Iowa. Approximately 50 volunteers are needed to assist elderly individuals at Nurse Services of Iowa. Assistance needed is with cleaning, yard work, repairs and maintenance. The Volunteer Center is seeking 60 volunteers to aid in service projects such as assembly care packages for clients of ACCESS and Emergency Residency Project, creating holiday greeting cards and planting flowers seeds to be transplanted into the garden in the spring. Reserve seats for annual dinner
The Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Annual Dinner will take place Jan. 21 at Hy-Vee Hall, 730 Third St. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a dinner, followed by a program at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $150 per person for center stage seating or $1,500 for a table of 10.
