Ring in the New Year at DMSC
The Des Moines Social Club, 1408 E. Locust St., will host its first-ever New Year’s Eve celebration, the DM Bash. The event runs from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. and includes live entertainment, fire performers, ice sculptors, DJ sets and a human ball drop at midnight. Food will be provided from Gateway Market. The Bash Bundle is five tickets for $100 or the Bash Party Pass is $50, which includes admission and all-you-can-drink Smirnoff Vodka and Goose Island Beer. Regular admission is $25. Celebrate 2010 at Hy-Vee Hall

Throw out the Christmas tree
The City of West Des Moines will have its Christmas Tree Pick Up through Jan. 8, 2010. Real Christmas trees will be picked up on normal garbage pick-up day the two weeks following Christmas. The City of Clive will have its Christmas Tree Pick Up on Jan. 7-8, 2010. Pick up will be Jan. 7 for residents living west of the interstate and Jan. 8 for those east of the interstate.
