Dec. 12, 1 p.m.
Assault causing injury in the 700 block of Loomis Avenue. Victim stated the suspect entered her apartment through the window and demanded money for beer. The victim gave the suspect $50, but then he punched her several times causing bruising on her right leg. The victim also stated the suspect punched her several times in the head causing soreness. The victim believes the suspect was intoxicated and has done this several times in the past. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.
Dec. 15, 1:30 p.m.
Indecent exposure in 1700 block of Fleur Drive. Victim stated the suspect drove into a parking lot and asked for workers to pack and load boxes at an unknown business. The victim was promised $200 for a day’s work so she got into the suspect’s vehicle to go to the unknown business. The suspect took the victim to the Gray’s Lake beach parking lot where he stated something to the effect of making an additional $200. The victim stated she looked over and the suspect had pulled out his penis and was gesturing for her to do something with it or to come closer. The victim refused, and the suspect returned her to an area shelter. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.
Dec. 15, 3:25 p.m.
Assault in the 1400 block of East 29th Street. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated she was picking up children in standstill traffic when a black Suburban “bullied” its way through traffic. The lady driving the suburban became upset and got out and kicked the front of the victim’s car and pushed her friend. The victim stated her friend dropped her cell phone and the suspect took it. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. CV

Name: Demetrius Birth
The story: Officers were dispatched on a domestic call where the suspect, later identified as Birth, was playing with a gun and pointing it at people. When officers arrived, they could hear yelling and pounding coming from the building. Officers entered the apartment, and Birth ran out a south side door where he was taken into custody. The victim stated Birth began drinking around 11 p.m. and became violent by pointing the gun at her, saying he was going to kill her. Birth also hit the victim in the head with the gun. The victim stated she and her daughter locked themselves in the bathroom, and Birth attempted to kick in the door. Officers found what appeared to be a BB pistol in the bedroom when Birth was taken into custody. Birth was charged with domestic assault with a weapon, first-degree harassment and false imprisonment.
