Dallas’ Roy Williams predicted his team would beat the Saints, and that’s exactly what the Cowboys did last week, pulling out a 24-17 win over previously undefeated New Orleans. Even GameDay didn’t see that coming. The win helped position Jerry Jones’ boys into playoff contention, while also ending a two-game Dallas skid. Clearly the win also proved the Cowboys are good enough to beat the top team in the NFC. While the loss may still sting, GameDay believes the Saints will continue to march on behind Drew Brees’ high-octane offense.

The Saints’ loss left the Indianapolis Colts as the only undefeated team in the league. The Colts have been squeaking by, including last week’s 35-31 come-from-behind win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. GameDay believes Peyton Manning has solidified his MVP award after throwing four touchdowns. Iowa native Dallas Clark caught two touchdowns, bringing his total to 10 this season.

With some of the league’s top teams locking up playoff positions, GameDay is interested to see which teams will rest its players in preparation for a Super Bowl run. This holiday weekend brings a couple of interesting games, including Baltimore at Pittsburgh. GameDay feels both teams have the potential to make a playoff push behind their experienced quarterbacks and ball-hawking defenses. The Steelers have hit a slump lately, although they won in miraculous fashion last week. Baltimore is churning on all cylinders, so GameDay believes the Ravens will come out on top.

Jacksonville at New England is another game that catches GameDay’s attention. The Patriots seem to be fluttering toward the playoffs, while the Jaguars nearly knocked off the Colts last week. All indications point to a low-scoring game, and GameDay predicts the Patriots will cool down the Jaguars in Foxboro Stadium.
