CONCERT REVIEW

LMFAO, Shwayze, Far East Movement, The Paradiso Girls and Space Cowboy
People’s Court, Nov. 24

LMFAO’s “Party Rock Tour” made a stop at People’s Court last week, and the tour name doesn’t lie; these groups know how to party. An all-ages crowd packed the house, which offered the vibe of a sweaty club mixed with an unchaperoned high school dance. The first three groups — Space Cowboy, The Paradiso Girls and Far East Movement — ran through quick, bass-filled sets. Of the three, The Paradiso Girls (“Patron Tequilla”) were the best, even though they appeared to be lip-synching. The sexy ladies got down with some funky dance moves, which took me back to my crappy high school talent shows where the slutty, popular girls would dance, winning massive applause. Shwayze took the stage to thunderous applause. Both Shwayze and Cisco Adler, his hypeman/producer/reality show cohort, had smiles on their faces the entire set. And why not? All their songs are about drinking, drugs and sex. They played numerous hits from his self-titled first album (“Corona and Lime,” “Roamin’,” “Buzzin’” and “All Night”) and his newest, “Let It Beat,” including “Maneatrr” and “Get U Home.” Headliners LMFAO took the stage and continued the party. LMFAO has good banter, but a repetitive sound. They switched their biggest hit, “I’m in Miami Bitch!” to “I’m in Des Moines Bitch!” to a ridiculously overwhelming response. Their music might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they know how to party, and that’s why the audience loved them. CV — Jared Curtis
