FEMA watch

Last week Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) announced the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded $1,887,245.65 in federal grants for Des Moines Water Works as a funding effort after last year’s floods. The funding will provide reimbursement for the costs to armor and protect the sand and gravel beds surrounding well No. 5 of Des Moines Water Works. Cedar Rapids was awarded $1,204,402.50. CV
