Guitarist Gary “Ho Ho” Hoey will perform a holiday rock music concert on Friday, Nov. 27 at 8 p.m. at The Meadows Events Center in Altoona. Admission is free with any non-perishable food donation to benefit the Food Bank of Iowa. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Jamie Aaron Kelley and his 15-piece orchestra perform Friday, Nov. 27 and Saturday, Nov. 28 at Quality Inn & Suites in Ames. Showtime is 7 p.m. VIP seating is $40 and general admission is $30.

National touring rock band Hawthorne Heights plays Sunday, Nov. 29 at the House of Bricks. Tickets for the all-ages 5 p.m. show are $12 in advance through IowaTix or $15 at the door. Doors open at 4 p.m.

“The Napalm & Noise Tour,” featuring performances by All That Remains and The Devil Wears Prada, rolls into the Val Air Ballroom on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. Story of the Year and Haste the Day will open. Tickets are $20 through the box office or Ticketmaster.

Pop-pianist Lorie Line returns to the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines for a concert of holiday music on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20 and $42.

The Moscow Boys Choir performs “Christmas Around the World” on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Stephen’s Auditorium in Ames. Tickets are $20 - $33 through the box office and Ticketmaster.

The Greater Des Moines Coalition’s Concert Corps will sponsor performances by Windsor Drive, Camera Can’t Lie, Here’s My Chance and Graduated Failure on Monday, Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. at the House of Bricks. Admission to the all-ages affair is $7.

Seattle rockers The Blakes, hot on the heels of premiering their new video “Ramshackle Hearse,” perform an all-ages concert on Monday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the Vaudeville Mews. The Winter Gloves, Volcano Boys and David Goes To Boarding School open the show. Admission is $7.

Works Progress Administration, a contemporary folk-pop all-star group featuring members of Nickel Creek, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Elvis Costello & the Imposters and the Jerry Douglas Band, will perform Monday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. at the Maintenance Shop in Ames. Tickets are $17 for the public and $14 for students.

Brett Dennen, with opening band Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, performs Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. at People’s Court. Advance tickets through IowaTix are $18. Admission at the door is $20.

R&B singer John Nemeth returns to Blues on Grand for a performance on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. Admission is $10.

Ketsana Vilaylack, a Laotian pop star, performs a free concert on Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. at Terrible’s Lakeside Casino in Osceola.

The Central Iowa Blues Society will host its annual Winter Blues Fest on Jan. 30, 2010 at the Downtown Marriott, 700 Grand Ave. The event’s lineup is to be announced.

Trevor Hall and Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds play the Vaudeville Mews on Feb. 9, 2010. Tickets, $12, go on sale Nov. 30 for the all-ages concert.

Public Enemy, has become the first major act to have partnered with SellaBand.com to finance its next album through fan funding. For $25, fans will receive an exclusive, numbered copy of the album and share in the album’s revenues. The band hopes to raise $250,000 to pay for the album. CV
