GameDay enjoyed some great match-ups last week, with the much-hyped Patriots vs. Colts game living up to expectations (except for Patriots fans — ouch, that has to sting). Kansas City fans have something to cheer about. Not only did they cut the woman-hating Larry Johnson, but they also floated into Oakland and left with, surprise, a victory! And who’s ready to take a seat next to me on the Cincinnati Bengals bandwagon? They walked into Pittsburgh and punched the Steelers right in the mouth. But with seven more games, anything can happen. Here are GameDay’s locks for the week.
New Orleans against Tampa Bay — GameDay knows it’s a no-brainer, but there is no way in hell that the Saints are losing to the 1-8 Bucs. Drew Brees and his high-scoring offense are going to sink the Bucs’ ship. Maybe Tampa Bay should don those stomach-turning creamsicle jerseys every game? It still wouldn’t help them beat the Saints. Look out for a rout!
Arizona against St. Louis — The Arizona Cardinals finally look on track. For weeks they would come out and dominate an opponents, then the following week be blown out of the water by a mediocre team. The flip-flops had to stop, and this week looked like proof that the red birds are for real. With Anquan Boldin healthy and Chris “Beanie” Wells emerging, the team is looking tough. St. Louis and Tennessee are next on the schedule, so look for the cardinals to be 8-3 heading into Minnesota on Dec. 6.
Indianapolis against Baltimore — That’s right, it’s easy to pick a 9-0 team to win, but guess what, Gameday is going with Baltimore. No matter the Colts’ record, Peyton Manning has always had a problem leaving Baltimore with a win. Look for Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Dawan Landry and Terrell Suggs to shut down the offense, while Joe Flacco and Ray “I’m only 5’8” Rice tear up the Colts’ defense. You read it here first. CV
