Des Moines Police Oct. 27 to Nov. 2
Oct. 27, 10:49 p.m.
Robbery in the 3000 block of Southeast 14th Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness who stated that an unknown black male had entered the restaurant and demanded money. The suspect stole $550 and fled the scene. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.
Oct. 30, 7:30 p.m.
Robbery and kidnapping in the 7000 block of Bloomfield Road. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who stated that she was out for Halloween with friends when her ex-boyfriend approached her and wanted to talk to her about unreturned phone calls. The victim stated that he took her down the trail near the woods where he yelled and grabbed her. She stated that she attempted several times to escape, but the suspect wouldn’t let her leave. The victim said she was choked screamed for help. Her pink digital camera was also stolen. The victim stated she was finally able to escape and went to a friend’s house to call for help. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.
Nov. 2, 10:50 p.m.
Burglary in the 800 block of East Euclid Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the Git and Go where they met with the store clerk who stated that a black male in his teens walked into the store and took a 24-pack of Bud Light beer, valued at $18.49, without paying. The clerk stated that the male walked into the beer cooler, grabbed it and when the clerk saw him leaving without paying, she told him he was on camera. The suspect responded, “I don’t give a fuck,” and walked out. The suspect entered a white Geo Tracker and left in an unknown direction. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.
Busted
Name: Lucas Steven Jones
The story: While on routine patrol, officers observed the suspect, later identified as Jones, driving a vehicle at 15th and Locust Streets. Officers ran registration owner and discovered that he had a revoked driver’s license for OWI test refusal. Officers stopped the vehicle, and Jones stated that he didn’t have a license. Jones told officers his name was Adam Hadjis and that he had a valid license from Illinois. Jones was wearing military fatigues with the last name Hadjis on it, but officers advised there was no record of such a person from Illinois. Upon further questioning, Jones finally admitted his real name. Jones was arrested without incident and transported to the Polk County Jail. Jones was charged with driving revoked and harassment of a police officer.
