The end of the world – as we know it?
Whether one has religious faith, an adherence to science, or an attraction to Hollywood movies, the end of the world offers an intriguing yet unnerving discussion. It is inevitable, yes, but the real question is when. Jared Curtis shares the latest round of hype that focuses on Dec. 21, 2012, as the “End of Days” in this week’s cover story. With the Mayan calendar, the Bible, the I Ching, Roman oracles, the Hopi Indian tribe, computer projects and NASA officials all pointing to change on that date, maybe we should pay attention.
Meanwhile, “Civic Skinny” asks if Roxanne Conlin can raise $10 million without PACs, and Jim Duncan critiques the re-opening of 35th Street Café in “Food Dude.”
Darren Tromblay and Jared Curtis share images of Dark Mirror, Jucifer, UFO and Greensky Bluegrass in “The Sound,” and Doug Burns discusses what could have been with Christie Vilsack in “Political Mercury.”
Matt Miller tells us about the Arenacross Series return to Wells Fargo Arena in “Locker Room” and Jared Curtis takes us to all-day entertainment at Trophy’s in “Belly Up.”
Brian Duffy reminds us about Dick Cheney, and “Game Day” provides his picks of the week in Detroit, San Diego and Indianapolis.
All this and more in this week’s Cityview. Thanks for reading. CV
