Well football fans, week eight is upon us, and teams are breaking themselves away from the pack. Three teams are still undefeated (Denver, Indianapolis and New Orleans), and three teams are still defeated (Tennessee, Tampa Bay and St. Louis). This week has some great match-ups including Denver at Baltimore, Atlanta at New Orleans and the game all eyes will be watching, Brett Favre’s return to Lambeau Field as the Vikings battle the Packers. Here are my three locks for week eight.
St. Louis at Detroit — With the Kansas City Chiefs on bye, I have to pick on someone. Unfortunately for the Rams, they drew the short straw. Coming off a bye week, Detroit is looking strong, and both Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson should be back from injury. The Rams, on the other hand, have nothing going for them. I doubt they’ll come into the Lions’ house with their weak team and leave victorious. Remember, I picked the Lions’ upset over the Redskins in week three.
Oakland at San Diego — Oakland has looked better the past couple of games, until the Jets blew them out last week. Even if they had scored a point, they would still be in trouble as they head down the coast to face off against the Chargers. San Diego continues to look tough, and although Nnamdi Asomugha will be able to contain Vincent Jackson, who is going to cover Antonio Gates? Look for the Raiders to continue to look pathetic while Philip Rivers has a big game.
San Francisco at Indianapolis — The 49ers are one of the better stories of the season. After struggling for numerous years, Coach Mike Singletary has the team on the right track and is actually winning a few games. Running back Frank Gore is healthy, rookie receiver Michael Crabtree has signed and tight end Vernon Davis is finally the player everyone expected him to be out of college. But they are heading to Indy, and Peyton Manning is as dominating as any QB out there — enough said.
