Don’t mess with ‘The Lawman’

Freelance reporter Doug Burns pulls double duty this week with his cover story on Madrid Police Chief Rick Tasler, who moonlights as a mixed martial arts cage fighter. Burns also offers his second installment of our new politics column, “Political Mercury.”

A&E editor Jared Curtis takes us to Big Shots in his “Belly Up” column while also reviewing the DVDs “Trick ‘r Treat” and the classic “Creepshow
2.” Darren “I got a new tooth” Tromblay shares photos from Dethklok, Mastodon, Prong and Soulfly in “The Sound.” Reporter Matt Miller highlights the upcoming USA Boxing event at Wells Fargo in “Locker Room.” “Game Day” prepares for Week 7 with NFL picks. And for the foodies, Jim Duncan catches us up on the Latino scene in “Food Dude.”

All this and more in this week’s Cityview.

Slightly smaller
Those of you who carry a ruler may notice that Cityview is a half-inch smaller this week. We have been critical of other papers for trying to pass this off as a reader benefit while obviously trying to save on their printing bills. This change is more of a convenience factor with our printer, as all the other customers are currently using this size. And we like to oblige.

Thanks for reading. CV
