As much as Game Day dislikes like the Minnesota Vikings, it’s hard not to pay respect to a team that is currently undefeated behind the ageless Brett Favre. The Vikings (6-0) pulled out a 33-31 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The win proved the Vikings are on a mission this year, but the road won’t be easy as this week they head to Heinz Field to take on the Super Bowl defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wow, it seems like Game Day needs to be paying attention to things down south, and we don’t mean the big screen in the new Dallas Cowboys’ stadium. Our attention is on the undefeated New Orleans Saints who continue to put up huge numbers and seem to be the team to beat in the NFC. Drew Brees torched the NY Giants’ league-leading defense for 369 yards and four touchdowns in the Saints 48-27 win — matching its best start since 1993. The Saints teased the previously undefeated Giants with seven different players scoring a touchdown for the first time in franchise history. New Orleans has beaten all of its opponents by 14 points and has yet to trail this season.
Now for the bad news — what is happening to the NY Jets? The Jets started off 3-0, including a win over the New England Patriots, but have sputtered lately. The latest was a 16-13 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills, a team that hasn’t seen any media attention since Terrell Owens appeared on the scene. Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez threw five interceptions and looked like he deserved to be in a Detroit Lions’ uniform rather than the poster child in New York.
