This is the true story of seven strangers — picked to live in a house, work together and have their lives taped -— who will find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real… The Real World will hold an open casting call on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery. The call runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and applicants should bring a recent picture of themselves (which will not be returned), a photo ID and be between the ages of 18 and 24. Hollywood takes another shot at ruining childhood memories. Columbia pictures have landed the rights for “Masters of The Universe.” Development is under way, but it’s hard telling what kind of ridiculous story the studio will come up with for He-Man and the gang. Hopefully it will be better than 1987’s “Masters of the Universe” starring Dolph Lundgren.
Columbia pictures is also moving ahead on a “Ghostrider” sequel. It’s safe to say that if one film didn’t need a sequel, it’s “Ghostrider.” At least it will give Nicolas Cage another crappy film paycheck, which he has been collecting ever since “Adaptation.”
The Mattel toy company has struck a deal with Universal to build a live action film around their signature toy, Barbie. Cheers from little girls everywhere can be heard along with jeers from the women who grew up in the era when you actually played with Barbie dolls and used your imagination instead of staring at computer and TV screens.
Even before Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes” film is released in December, Warner Brothers is already looking at a sequel, with Brad Pitt joining the cast as Professor James Moriarty, Holmes archenemy from the novels. Rumors are spreading that Pitt will shoot a scene to incorporate the character into the first film before its Christmas release. CV
